Tasting note: Bright ruby in colour, this Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru opens with a lifted floral bouquet of roses and violets that frames a core of fresh red fruit — red currant and raspberry — with a fine stony thread. The palate is elegant and approachable: red-fruited, quietly structured, with silky tannins and a subtle underpinning of oak that gives texture rather than dominance. Producer notes & winemaking: Crafted traditionally at the domaine, red ferments take place in lined cement tanks with controlled temperatures over 12–15 days. Free-run and press fractions are blended; lees are settled for at least 48 hours before élevage. Ageing is approximately 16 months in barrel, with a significant use of new oak at the domaine, contributing gentle lift and spice. Vineyard notes: The 1.10 ha parcel lies on the southern edge of Chambolle near Vosne-Romanée. East-facing on a fine, very stony soil over white marl, the site experiences colder winters, hotter summers and a relatively humid autumn, which shapes a wine of refined mineral tension. Vines are a mix of c.30- and 5-year-old plantings. Drinking & service: Best enjoyed after brief airing — 30–45 minutes — to reveal more floral detail. Decant lightly if served younger. Serve at around 14–16°C. Matches beautifully with roast duck, game birds, veal and soft alpine cheeses.
Domaine Anne Gros is a family-run domaine rooted in Chambolle-Musigny and nearby Vosne-Romanée. Part of the Gros family’s holdings, the domaine works with small parcels, meticulous vineyard care and traditional cellar techniques. Focus is on expressing site character — stony soils, marl substrata and east-facing slopes — with careful élevage that balances fruit purity and subtle oak influence.
