Tasting note
Tasting note: Bright, elegant and medium-bodied, this Volnay opens with red cherry and raspberry compote, a floral lift of violet and rose petal, then develops gentle earthy and mushroom notes with a hint of baking spice. The palate is silky, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and a lingering, savoury finish. Producer notes: From a small family domaine in Volnay, the winemaker focuses on expressing the slope-by-slope terroir. Fruit comes from older vines on well-drained, limestone-tinged soils, harvested carefully to preserve freshness. Winemaking notes: Fermentation is handled with gentle extraction to retain perfume and finesse. The wine is matured in French oak barrels (a portion in newer oak) for around a year to round texture without overwhelming purity of fruit. Vineyard notes: Parcels are planted on Volnay’s hillside exposures with cool nights that retain acidity and promote aromatic lift. Low yields from older vines and attentive canopy work give concentrated, refined grapes that translate into an approachable yet complex bottle.
