Tasting note: A poised Premier Cru that opens with a lifted bouquet of red cherry, wild raspberry and darker berry compote, layered with forest-floor, dried herbs and a hint of baking spice. On the palate it is refined and focused — bright, energetic acidity carries concentrated fruit while silky, polished tannins provide structure and poise. Flavours linger with mineral undertones and a long, savory finish. Producer notes: From the small, highly regarded Claude Dugat domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin, this bottling reflects the house’s commitment to low yields, careful selection and terroir expression. The wines are known for their finesse and ability to marry power with elegance. Winemaking notes: Fermented with attention to gentle extraction to preserve aromatic lift, this wine is matured in French oak with a measured use of new barrels to support the fruit without overwhelming it. Minimal intervention in cellar work aims to showcase the vineyard’s signature notes and preserve natural acidity. Vineyard notes: Sourced from Premier Cru parcels on the mid-to-upper slopes of Gevrey-Chambertin, the vines grow on well-drained limestone-clay soils and benefit from meticulous, mostly hand-harvested work in the vineyard. Low yields and old vine material contribute concentration and depth, while the site’s minerality and exposure bring freshness and longevity.
