Tasting note
A poised, terroir-driven red from a respected Chassagne domaine, the 2023 La Goujonne Vieilles Vignes Rouge shows bright red-fruit aromas—cherry and wild strawberry—layered with undergrowth, dried herbs and a cool stony minerality. On the palate it is medium-bodied with silky, fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and an earthy mushroom note that lingers into a persistent, lifted finish. Produced from old vines on the La Goujonne parcel, yields are kept low to concentrate flavour. Vinification focuses on gentle extraction and balance: small-lot fermentations, careful maceration and maturation in French oak (a portion renewed) to support rather than dominate the fruit. Drink from 2026–2035; decant if opening young to show primary fruit and soften edges. An elegant match for roast duck, game birds and mushroom-forward dishes.
Winery
Domaine Hubert Lamy is a small, highly regarded estate in Chassagne-Montrachet operated by Olivier Lamy. Renowned for its meticulous vineyard work and respect for terroir, the domaine farms a mix of vineyard plots including old-vine sites. Fruit is harvested by hand, vinified in small lots and matured in French oak with an emphasis on balance and expression rather than overt oak signatures. The estate's wines are prized for their clarity, precision and ability to reflect site-specific soils across the Côte de Beaune.
