Tasting note
Bright garnet in the glass, this Gevrey-Chambertin opens with lifted aromas of red cherry, raspberry and cranberry, layered over forest-floor notes of mushroom, cedar and a hint of iron. On the palate it shows refined, silky tannins, lively acidity and a savory, slightly tobacco-tinged finish. The wine displays an elegant mid-palate density with persistent red-fruit and earthy threads that lengthen on the finish. From a small, family-run domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin, the Vieilles Vignes bottling is sourced from older parcels that bring concentration and complexity. Fruit is hand-harvested and handled with gentle extraction to preserve finesse. The winemaking follows traditional Burgundian practice with fermentations that favor aromatic expression and an élevage in French oak barrels that adds structure and subtle spice without overwhelming the fruit. The result is a classic, food-friendly Cote de Nuits expression—best enjoyed after a short decant to let the layers open.
