Tasting note: Bright garnet in the glass, this Grand Cru opens with vibrant red-berry fruit layered with white pepper, grilled citrus peel and a smoky, vanilla‑tinged oak. Secondary aromas of forest floor, mushroom and truffle develop with aeration. On the palate it is medium‑to‑full bodied with a spirited, incisive attack, fine and supple tannins and a succulent mid‑palate that balances silky texture with mineral tension. The long finish shows spice and lingering savoury notes. Producer & vineyard notes: From Domaine Mongeard‑Mugneret in Flagey‑Echezeaux, this cuvée comes from parcels planted on hard limestone with low clay content. The domaine farms roughly 1.82 ha in the appellation; vine ages range from around 25 to 60 years, contributing depth and complexity. Winemaking & ageing: Hand‑harvested and hand‑sorted in the winery. Fermentation and élevage emphasize precision: aged in 60–80% new oak barrels, which brings toasted, vanilla and smoky nuances while preserving the wine’s freshness and terroir expression.
