Tasting note: Bright, classically Burgundian aromas open with red cherry, wild raspberry and a thread of violet, giving way to autumnal forest-floor and light spice. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied with lively acidity, fine-grained, silky tannins and a mineral-tinged, persistent finish. Producer notes & winery: Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret is a family-owned Côte de Beaune domaine under the stewardship of Jean Mongeard, respected for precise, terroir-driven wines from Pernand and neighbouring villages. Winemaking notes: Fruit is hand-harvested and vinified in small-capacity fermenters to preserve aromatic lift. The wines typically see maturation in French oak barrels with a portion of new wood, allowing structure to integrate without overpowering the fruit. Vineyard notes: Les Vergelesses is a Premier Cru site on the slopes of Pernand-Vergelesses with marl and limestone-influenced soils and good exposure, producing wines that balance energy and concentration. Drink window: 2025–2040. Serving: decant for about 45 minutes if younger; serve at 15–17°C. Food pairing: roast duck or game birds, mushroom or game ragoûts, classic Burgundian preparations such as escargots in red-wine sauce.
