Tasting note: Bright ruby in the glass, this Vosne-Romanée unfolds aromas of ripe red cherry, wild raspberry, violet and subtle baking spice, followed by forest-floor and mushroom notes. The palate is poised and elegant: juicy mid-palate fruit framed by lively acidity and fine-grained, silky tannins, finishing long with a mineral lift. Producer notes: From the respected Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, this village-level bottling reflects the house’s focus on balance and terroir expression. Managed by Jean Mongeard and team, the domaine works with small parcels in classic Vosne sites to produce refined, age-worthy wines. Winemaking notes: Grapes are handled gently with traditional Burgundian techniques — careful sorting, moderate extraction and fermentation in well-managed cuves. Maturation is carried out in French oak barrels (a portion new) to provide structure while preserving freshness and clarity of fruit. Vineyard notes: Sourced from the Les Maizieres Hautes lieu-dit on Vosne slopes with limestone-clay soils and good drainage. Low-yield viticulture and attentive canopy work encourage concentrated flavours and aromatic purity, with parcels benefiting from balanced sun exposure and cool night-time relief typical of the Côtes de Nuits.
