Tasting note
Tasting Note: Aromas open to rose petal, ripe cherry and plum, layered with cedar, dried herbs, licorice and a hint of tar. The palate is concentrated yet refined — juicy dark fruit framed by bright acidity, polished oak spice and a core of firm but integrated tannins that give structure without harshness. A long, savoury finish lingers with earthy and floral echoes. Producer Notes: From the Gianni Gagliardo estate in Monforte d'Alba, this Barolo balances the power typical of the zone with a graceful perfume and refined texture. The wine expresses the estate's focus on terroir and measured extraction to preserve aromatic clarity. Winemaking Notes: Grapes are hand-harvested, fermented with careful temperature control and extended maceration to extract colour and tannin. Maturation takes place in a combination of large oak casks and smaller barrels for around 18–24 months, followed by bottle ageing to integrate wood and soften tannins. Vineyard Notes: Sourced from hillside parcels with calcareous-marl soils and south/southeast exposures in Monforte d'Alba (Castelletto area), yields are moderate to low and viticulture prioritises canopy balance and selective picking to achieve ripe phenolic maturity. Ideal now with 1 hour decanting, yet able to evolve further in cellar.
