Krug 2002 is an eloquent, cellar-aged vintage that celebrates an exceptionally generous year. Aromas open with candied orange peel, ripe orchard and tropical fruits, then unfurl into hazelnut, toasted biscuit and dark chocolate. On the palate it is generous yet finely poised: vibrant acidity frames concentrated fruit layers—cassis, crystallised citrus and pineapple—while honeyed and smoky, brioche-like notes add texture. The traditional method and extended lees ageing (over a decade in Krug’s cellars) give a creamy mousse and remarkable depth; the dosage is restrained, leaving a saline minerality and a persistent, crystalline finish. Created from selected parcels across Krug’s historic sites, this vintage is built for both immediate pleasure and long-term evolution.
