Tasting Note: Bright and expressive, this white from the Cheval Blanc stable opens with tropical nuances of pineapple and mango layered over white peach and lemon zest. Mineral and stony notes give it definition while an undercurrent of lees and faint honeyed tones add complexity. The palate is surprisingly full-bodied and slightly oily in texture yet kept lively by taut, steely acidity; the finish is long with lingering stone fruit and citrus. Producer Notes: Le Petit Cheval is the estate's approachable white—crafted to reflect Cheval Blanc's signature balance between richness and precision. Managed under Pierre Lurton within the ownership of Albert Frère and Bernard Arnault, the project aims for clarity and energetic fruit expression. Winemaking Notes: Fermented and matured partly in oak (oaked maturation) with time on the lees to build weight and subtle brioche character. Careful oak dosing preserves freshness while adding a gentle creaminess and complexity. Vineyard Notes: Grapes are sourced from selected plots in the estate's Bordeaux holdings; viticulture focuses on low yields and attentive canopy management to concentrate flavor. Soils that lend a mineral backbone and a cool ripening window contribute to the wine’s steely energy. Drinking Window & Service: Ready now but will evolve over the next decade or more; decant 30–60 minutes to open. Serve chilled but not ice‑cold (10–12°C) to reveal aromatics and texture.
