Tasting note

Deep, almost impenetrable in the glass, Bella’s Garden is a textbook Barossa expression: concentrated, ripe and impressively layered. Aromas open with plum, blackcurrant and blackberry preserves, threaded through with cracked black pepper, dried herbs, violets and a touch of incense. On the palate the wine is dense and opulent — a creamy mid-palate carries waves of dark fruit and cassis while French oak spice and gentle vanilla from 18 months in hogsheads integrate neatly. Tannins are powerful yet polished, giving a velvet coating that builds into a long, puckering finish. Vineyard & Producer: Fruit is sourced from Two Hands’ finest blocks on the western Barossa ranges where red/brown earth creates low yields, concentrated fruit and masculine tannin structure. The label’s deep colour echoes those soils and the intensity they produce. Under the stewardship of owner Michael Twelftree and viticulturist Travis Coombe, yields are carefully managed to maximise concentration. Winemaking: Fermented in 5–10 tonne open-top fermenters with regular pump-overs (twice daily), average skin contact of 7–10 days, then pressed and racked to barrel for malolactic fermentation. Aged 18 months in French hogsheads (15% new, remainder 1–6 years old). Bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve texture and flavour integrity. Cellaring & Service: Ready to enjoy now with decanting, this wine will also reward careful cellaring over the next decade. Recommended decant ~90 minutes to let aromatics and tannins harmonise.
