Tasting note

Bright and classically composed, this Brunello opens with an aromatic bouquet of red cherry, raspberry and darker prune notes, edged by mandarin peel and dry Mediterranean herbs. On the palate it is medium–full with focused acidity and polished, ripe tannins that frame juicy red fruit and a subtle earthy, savoury undercurrent. The texture is rounded and progressive, finishing long and refined. Producer notes point to meticulous vineyard selection on Montalcino’s hills and traditional cellar work: extended maceration, slow fermentation and long ageing to build structure and longevity. The vineyards sit on well‑drained, stony slopes with low yields and careful canopy management, favouring concentration and aromatic clarity. Drink now after decanting or cellar further through the drinking window for added tertiary complexity.

Valdicava is one of Montalcino’s most respected estates, known for producing Brunellos with clarity of fruit and strong sense of place. The team focuses on low yields, careful vineyard work on stony, hillside sites and a patient cellar regime aimed at building harmony and longevity rather than early showiness.
