Tasting note: Bright ruby colour with a fragrant nose of wild strawberries, sour cherries and crushed blueberries, edged by wet earth, slate and a hint of white pepper. The palate is medium-bodied, lively and fruit-forward, with fresh, fine-grained tannins and a mineral-tinged finish of good length. Producer notes: Produced by Virgen del Galir, part of the CVNE group’s project in Valdeorras, this wine comes from select parcels within the Val do Galir. The team focuses on respectful viticulture and single-parcel expression, aiming to capture the cool, mineral character of the area. Winemaking notes: Grapes are handled gently to preserve primary fruit: light destemming, controlled-temperature fermentation and moderate maceration to extract ripe phenolics without harshness. Aging is kept short and neutral (concrete or neutral oak) to retain freshness and terroir clarity. Vineyard notes: Vineyards sit in Valdeorras’ cooler Atlantic-continental climate, on parcels with granitic and mixed soils and good altitude exposure. Low yields from older vines, rigorous canopy work and careful site selection deliver concentrated fruit with a clear mineral backbone. Drink now–over the next decade for developing tertiary notes.
