Tasting note: Bright and approachable, this Pirque white opens with citrus blossom, lemon zest and ripe pear, followed by tropical hints and a whisper of vanilla and light oak. The mid-palate is gently creamy yet lively, driven by brisk acidity and a medium-plus body that carries a clean, persistent finish. Producer notes: Crafted by William Fevre’s Chilean project, the Espino bottling reflects a New World interpretation with Burgundian winemaking sensibilities — focus on site expression, balanced oak use and freshness. Winemaking notes: Fruit is hand-harvested from cooler Pirque sites, fermented under controlled temperatures to preserve aromatics, and matured briefly in a combination of stainless steel and seasoned oak to build texture without overwhelming freshness. Lees contact contributes to the wine’s silky mouthfeel. Vineyard notes: Sourced from parcels on the Pirque foothills in the Maipo Valley where daytime warmth and cool nights promote ripe fruit with good acidity. Soils are well-draining, with alluvial and stony components that encourage concentrated flavors and a clear, mineral-tinged profile. Serve slightly chilled and allow a short decant or 20–40 minutes in the glass to open up aromatics. Excellent with seafood, spicy Asian dishes and richer poultry preparations.
