This 2018 Proprietary Red from Amuse Bouche is a Napa-born, Bordeaux-style blend that shows bright, concentrated fruit and an alluring spice layer. On the nose: black plums, kirsch and creme de cassis weave with violet florals, a touch of red bell pepper and anise. Palate notes include mocha, melted dark chocolate, subtle forest mushroom and clove spice framed by silky, lightly chewy tannins and a tangy mineral lift. The 2018 season was long and mild, and fruit was picked in three passes (9/17, 9/29 and 10/18) to capture optimal ripeness. Matured in oak and finished with cork, production was small (725 cases). Best enjoyed after a couple of hours in the decanter when youthful vibrancy softens and layers open—excellent with richer red meats and aged cheeses.

Small-production lots were matured in oak and finished under natural cork to preserve complexity.
