Description
Tasted at the chateau. A moderate garnet core. An attractive nose, still a little closed, quite herbal with a touch of menthol in the background. The palate has a very soft entry, spiky acidity and is still a bit austere. Tobacco and pencil-lead notes with a pruney finish. The Cabernet Franc is driving this wine though there is a Merlot, sour cherry note on the aftertaste. I prefer this to the 1994 although it is not a great Cheval Blanc. Drink now and over 5 years. The 1993 Chateau Cheval Blanc, a celebrated wine from Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux, offers a symphony of complexity and elegance. With an alcohol content of 12.5%, this wine is best decanted for an hour to fully appreciate its intricate profile. On the palate, it presents a medium body with a distinctive herbal edge, complemented by a rich tapestry of red fruits, prune, and stone fruits. Vanilla and smoky notes from French oak maturation add depth, while menthol and tobacco nuances bring freshness and a classic touch. The finish is marked by a crisp quality with alternating sweet and tart fruits, and a sour cherry note that lingers. Enjoy this wine with dishes like roasted lamb, duck confit, or a creamy mushroom risotto, and savor the peak of its charm.
