Tasting note

Deep, dark red in the glass, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape from E. Guigal opens with a layered nose of warm spices, mature red fruits and toasted hazelnut. The palate is rich and unctuous, showing concentrated plum, raspberry and black‑currant flavours framed by round, robust tannins and a smoky-charcoal edge that lengthens the finish. Estate notes: vines grow on round pebbles and red clay, with an average vine age around 45 years. Winemaking: traditional, temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation followed by three weeks maceration; aged for two years in large French oak foudres, which brings textural depth rather than overt new-oak influence. Producer ethos: the family‑run house focuses on meticulous selection and blending to achieve consistency and balance across vintages. Drink now–2030; best enjoyed after decanting to broaden the aromatics and soften the tannic frame.
