2020 Au Pied du Mont Chauve Chassagne Montrachet En Pimont

Silky Burgundian white with a mineral backbone and warm oak spice.

【Why choose it?】
1) Terroir-driven depth -> Limestone soils give a focused minerality that lifts every sip. Benefit: food-friendly precision for Cantonese or Western dishes.
2) Elegant oak integration -> Barrel fermentation and restrained new oak (short toast) add toast and hazelnut without overpowering fruit. Benefit: complexity like a grander label but more approachable price.
3) Carefully managed vinification -> Lees ageing and partial malolactic lend creaminess and length. Benefit: immediate drinking pleasure with cellar potential.

【Sommelier’s private note】On the nose: lemon zest, baked pear and a gentle toasty perfume. The palate opens with chalky minerality, then ripples of orchard fruit and warm buttered brioche; acidity keeps it lively while the finish tapers to a pleasant toasted almond note. Drink slightly chilled after a short decant to let the layers unfold.

【Winemaking & Vineyard】From a family domaine that emphasizes balance: hand-harvested fruit from En Pimont sites with classic Côte de Beaune limestone-clay soils. Fermented in French oak barrels (a minority new), aged on fine lees for extended texture and clarity.

【Occasion】Perfect for a refined weeknight roast, a seafood dinner in Sai Kung, or as a gift when you want to impress without overspending.

【Competitive edge】Delivers the hallmark Chassagne-Montrachet clarity and subtle oak framing at a price that undercuts bigger-name premiers—an excellent value-for-quality pour for collectors and regular drinkers alike.
