Tasting Note: Deep, focused and noble — the 2011 reveals saturated blue and black fruit layers over a distinctive chalky minerality. Aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, a hint of violet and discreet oak spice lead to a medium–full palate: chalky, firm tannins frame concentrated fruit, subtle smoke and licorice, finishing long and precise. Producer Notes: From Château Beauséjour (Duffau-Lagarrosse), a Saint-Emilion estate known for finesse and longevity. Hand-harvested grapes undergo strict selection to make the grand vin. Winemaking: Vinification is tailored vat-by-vat with careful extraction to respect each parcel’s character. Maturation includes roughly one year in merrain oak barrels to add structure and nuance without overwhelming freshness. Vineyard Notes: Soils rich in limestone and clay impart the wine’s trademark minerality and backbone; low-yield, well-managed vines deliver concentrated, balanced fruit. Cellaring & Service: Shows firm tannins in its youth — decant about 90 minutes if drinking now. Ready to enjoy from mid cellaring but will reward patience through the next two decades.
