2023 Chateau Beychevelle (375 ml)

Soul Hook: A poised Saint‑Julien that marries graphite and dark fruit with disciplined structure.

Why choose it?
1) Estate pedigree -> Classic Beychevelle elegance from a historic Saint‑Julien property, reliable investment for your cellar.
2) Balanced structure -> Firm yet refined tannins that grant both early pleasure and medium-term ageing.
3) Versatile food partner -> Enough power for red meats, but fine precision for more delicate dishes.

Sommelier's Notes: On the first pour, concentrated blackcurrant and plum roll across the palate, edged by cedar, tobacco leaf and a cool graphite streak. The mid‑palate is focused — medium‑full body with tight, powdery tannins and a mineral lift that keeps it lively. Toasted oak frames rather than overwhelms, giving spice and a polished finish.

Occasion / Pairing Guide: Ideal for an elevated weekend roast, a dinner with close friends, or a celebratory Cantonese banquet where roasted meats take centre stage. Decant 60–90 minutes for immediate clarity; cellaring will reward up to a decade depending on storage.

Winemaking Notes: Traditional destemming and careful sorting, temperature‑controlled fermentations, then élevage in French oak (a portion in new oak) for roughly 12–14 months to integrate tannin and oak influence while preserving primary fruit.

Vineyard Notes: Gravelly Saint‑Julien terroir with good drainage and maritime influence from the nearby estuary, producing grapes with concentrated varietal character and refined tannic structure.

Competitive Edge: Offers Château prestige and Saint‑Julien pedigree at a price that undercuts many first‑growth adjacents — classic Bordeaux structure with immediate appeal and cellar potential.
