Description
It's rare when a producer serves a Chassagne 1er after a Bâtard yet that is what Cournut chose to do and it effectively highlighted just how good both it and the Dent de Chien are. Discreet oak influence is present on the ripe, fresh and beautifully layered aromas of lemon-lime, tangerine, pear compote and a lovely range of spice elements. The super-sleek and almost painfully intense medium weight flavors brim with both minerality and sappy dry extract on the gorgeously persistent and impeccably well-balanced finale. This isn't quite as complex as the Bâtard but it's close and overall, this would easily embarrass many a grand cru. AM 95
