[Sommelier's private note] Open this and you’ll find warm black cherry and ripe plum at the centre, edged by cocoa and gentle tobacco. Tannins are present but caressing — polished rather than aggressive — giving a silky, persistent finish. With an hour of decanting the mid-palate softens and spice notes (clove, a hint of cardamom) come forward. Perfect for a dinner where the wine competes with bold flavours but still rewards lingering conversation.

Château Gazin is a historic Pomerol estate planted on a single 26-hectare holding atop the Pomerol plateau. Soils are a mix of Gunzian gravel over blue-green clay; vines average 35 years old. Farming emphasises traditional methods, minimal chemical use, ploughing and manual harvests. Vinification includes small concrete vats, careful sorting and 18 months of oak ageing.
