Tasting Note: The 2005 Chateau La Lagune unfurls a potent yet refined bouquet of black cherry and blackberry liqueur framed by cedar, sweet tobacco, incense and subtle toasty oak. The palate is broad and savory, with silky, ripe tannins, lively acidity and an expansive mouthfeel that balances power with elegance. Producer Notes: La Lagune’s 80-hectare estate is managed with a strong commitment to environmentally respectful viticulture; a transition to organic practices was initiated in 2013 with certification planned thereafter. This approach aims to preserve soil health and terroir expression, letting the fruit reflect the unique gravelly sites. Winemaking Notes: Grapes are hand‑harvested into small crates, subjected to meticulous triple manual sorting and optical selection, and vinified by parcel. Extraction is carefully controlled to favor elegance; maturation lasts about 16 months in oak, with the final blend refined during ageing. Vineyard Notes: La Lagune sits on a light gravel matrix—pink, yellow and white quartz, calcite and silica—that reflects sunlight and encourages finesse, lift and a mineral thread through the fruit. Ageing & Drinking: This is an age-worthy vintage with a long drinking window; moderate decanting (about 60 minutes) will open the aromatics and silk the texture. Serve with rich roasted red meats, game or mature cheese.

Chateau La Lagune is a classified growth in the Haut-Médoc known for its gravelly terroir and measured, elegant style. The estate (around 80 hectares) has moved steadily towards environmentally respectful viticulture under recent stewardship, integrating organic and biodynamic-inspired practices to preserve soils and promote vine health. The château combines meticulous manual harvest and sorting with parcel vinification and careful oak ageing to craft wines that balance finesse and power.
