2005 Chateau Leoville Poyferre

A Saint‑Julien classic that balances power with immediate charm.

【Why choose it?】
1) Second Growth pedigree -> Proven cellar potential and collectability.
2) 2005 ripe vintage & meticulous sorting -> concentrated, polished fruit without vegetal edges.
3) 18 months in oak & expert handling -> layered toast and cedary complexity with a fresh finish.

【Sommelier's private note】Shiny dark garnet. Upfront notes of creme de cassis, mocha and toasted oak evolve into cedar, eucalyptus and a whiff of tobacco. On the palate it is full, plush and concentrated — tannins still assertive but well integrated, giving a silky, long finish. Decant 60–90 minutes if drinking now; it will repay further cellaring.

【Occasion & pairing】Perfect for a celebratory steak dinner, an intimate Cantonese roast feast or as a milestone gift. Pairs beautifully with ribeye, venison, mature cheddar or earthy mushroom dishes.

【Competitive edge】Compared with ultra-expensive first-growths, this Leoville Poyferre delivers classic Left Bank structure, high vintage quality and impressive longevity at a far more attractive price point.
