2020 Chateau Leoville Poyferre (3000 ml)

A Saint-Julien classic: concentrated depth and silk — built to age, ready to impress.

【Why choose it?】
- Estate legacy -> A century of Cuvelier family stewardship and classified-growth pedigree means rock-solid provenance and consistent quality.
- Precise oak ageing -> 18 months in carefully selected French barrels gives spice and structure without masking the fruit.
- Site diversity & old vines -> Multiple plots across Saint-Julien create layered complexity and notable ageing potential.

【Sommelier’s private note】First pour reveals dark berry core—cassis and black cherry—then tobacco, espresso and a violet whisper. The palate is muscular yet refined: ripe dark fruit wrapped in polished, mouth-coating tannins and cedared oak. Fresh acidity keeps the wine energetic; the finish is long, mineral and cocoa-tinged. Decant for an hour if drinking in its youth.

【Occasion / Pairing】Weekend celebration roast, a Cantonese-style beef banquet or a quiet tasting with aged cheddar and friends. Perfect for milestone dinners and cellar additions.

【Competitive Edge】Gives the gravitas and ageing horizon of top-classified Bordeaux but at a price point and consistency that makes it a smart purchase for collectors and serious drinkers alike.

Winery

Château Léoville Poyferré is a 2ème Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Julien, owned by the Cuvelier family. The estate spans some 80 hectares across several plots, worked with long-term vineyard management and a focus on balance between fruit and oak. Wines undergo malolactic fermentation in barrel and are matured about 18 months in selected French oak to achieve harmony between wood and wine.
