1995 Chateau Meyney

Tasting note: Mature, savory Saint-Estephe with an earthy, truffle-tinged nose. Aromas of black fruit, prune and liquorice sit alongside pronounced cedar and oak. On the palate the wine shows a meaty, savory character and dark, slightly dried fruit; tannins have softened with age but remain present, and the finish is honest though not overly long.
Producer & vineyard notes: Chateau Meyney sits in Saint-Estephe on gravelly soils with a blue-clay subsoil that lends structure and classic Médoc minerality. The estate is part of Groupe Crédit Agricole and follows traditional Médoc practices.
Winemaking & ageing: Gentle vinification adapted to each vat to extract the best, followed by 18 months in French oak barrels. Matured in bottle for many years before release; cork closure.
Service: Decant gently (about 45 minutes) to lift tertiary aromas and settle any sediment. Best matched with grilled or roasted red meats and aged cheeses.
