Tasting note

Tasting note: Expressive Listrac-Médoc aromatics of freshly crushed black currants and dark cherry, edged with walnut, cedar and a hint of smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with concentrated fruit, taut acidity and firm, chewy tannins that give a serious, savory finish. Producer notes: Made by the small Château Saint Marie concern on a compact, old-vine site; the estate rebuilt its plantings after the great frost of 1956 and benefits from low yields and vine age for concentration. Winemaking: Traditional vinification with careful extraction and maturation in oak to round the structure; toast and cedar notes reflect measured barrel influence. Vineyard: Gravelly, well-drained soils of Listrac with maritime influence produce wines of savory grip and clear black-fruit focus. Best enjoyed after decanting to soften tannins, or cellar to gain further integration.

Winery

Château Saint Marie is the producer associated with the Peyredon Lagravette label. A small, traditionally minded estate with compact holdings and many old vines, the property emphasizes low yields and classic Médoc vinification to produce savory, structured wines that reflect Listrac’s gravelly soils and maritime climate.
