1975 Chateau Pichon Baron
1975 Chateau Pichon Baron
A refined Pauillac from 1975, this second-growth Grand Vin unfolds with concentrated black-fruit aromas and a ribbon of spice, cedar and tobacco that speak of long cellar age. On the palate it is elegant yet powerful: dense, layered flavours, firm but integrated structure and an impressive, lingering finish. The wine matured 18 months in oak (80% new), imparting supportive toast and cedar notes while preserving the estate’s class and intensity. Vineyards sit on deep gravel soils that drive the wine’s minerality and longevity. Owned by AXA Millésimes and shaped under winemaker Alexandra Lebossé and viticulturist Aymeric Hervy, this bottle shows why Pichon Baron rewards careful cellaring. Given its age and likely sediment, decant gently for about 30 minutes to allow the mature aromas to open and to separate any sediment.
