Tasting note: Deep, concentrated dark-fruited aromas of black cherry and cassis are layered with smoked cedar, graphite and spice. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and finely textured — ripe fruit wrapped in firm, well-structured tannins and lifted by fresh, citrus-tinged acidity. The finish is long, savory and mineral-tinged. Producer notes: A Cru Classé from Pessac-Léognan, produced under the Cathiard family, this estate balances power and elegance. The 2014 shows the house style of dense fruit and precise oak framing, built for medium to long aging while remaining approachable with some bottle age. Winemaking notes: Fermented as whole berries at around 28°C in small wooden vats with extraction achieved through manual punch-downs. Matured for 18 months in oak, the élevage adds spice and structure without overwhelming the fruit. Vineyard notes: Planted on the classic gravelly and limestone-influenced soils of Pessac-Léognan, the vines receive meticulous vineyard management aimed at balanced ripeness and concentration.
