2020 Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur Volnay 1er Cru Les Taillepieds

This 2020 Taillepieds from Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur is a polished Volnay Premier Cru with notable aromatic complexity and an assured sense of place. Ripe red and darker berry aromas mingle with floral lift, gentle spice and a hint of toasted oak. On the palate it is textured and sappy, the mid‑palate rounded and robust yet kept in check by the characteristic Taillepieds austerity that drives a long, satisfying finish. Made in small quantities (≈1,500 bottles), the wine sees oaked maturation and traditional vinification focused on balance and finesse. Expect a wine that is approachable after an hour's decant but will reward patience over the drinking window 2025–2036. Food-friendly and classic with roast duck, game birds or slow-cooked red meat.

Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur is a small family domaine run by Vincent and François Bitouzet. Working with a portfolio of Côte de Beaune vineyards, the domaine pursues traditional Burgundian vinification with attention to low yields and careful maturation in oak. Small production parcels and an emphasis on terroir-driven expression yield wines that marry finesse with structure.
