Don Julio 1942 Tequila

Don Julio 1942 is an iconic small‑batch añejo crafted as a tribute to the founder’s beginnings. Aromas of rich caramel, dark chocolate and warm vanilla rise from a golden pour, followed by toasted oak, delicate baking spice and a whisper of tropical fruit. The palate is silky and generous: warm oak and vanilla mingle with roasted core‑notes from the cooked heart of the plant, supported by a creamy, almost butterscotch texture and a long, lingering finish of oak and vanilla. Produced using slow steam cooking in traditional masonry ovens and aged for a minimum of two and a half years in temperature‑and‑humidity controlled white oak barrels, this tequila shows polished integration between spirit and wood. Best served slightly chilled or allowed to rest 10–20 minutes in a glass to open up; an elegant choice for contemplative sipping or pairing with rich, savory cuisine.

Winery

Don Julio began as the lifelong pursuit of Don Julio González, who dedicated himself to craft and tradition. Today the house produces a range of tequilas made in small batches with careful attention to cooking, fermentation and barrel ageing. Don Julio 1942 is aged a minimum of 2.5 years in white oak and finished with a T‑top cork—an expression designed for collectors and serious sippers. The brand is part of a larger portfolio owned by Diageo, but the bottlings preserve the original emphasis on handcraft and terroir of the Jalisco highlands.
