Bright and graceful, this Premier Cru opens with lifted notes of red cherry, wild raspberry and a bouquet of forest-floor aromas — damp leaves and mushroom that add depth. Subtle baking spice and a hint of warm wood frame the fruit while a clear mineral streak keeps the palate focused. Texture is silky with moderate, polished tannins and lively acidity that drives a medium–long, savoury finish. Produced by a celebrated Burgundy estate with meticulous vineyard work in the Les Jarrons Premier Cru site, the wine reflects restrained extraction, careful oak élevage and low yields that favour purity and terroir expression. Best enjoyed slightly chilled after a short decant; pairs beautifully with roast duck, mushroom dishes and simply prepared red meat.

Domaine Leflaive, long celebrated for exacting viticulture and terroir-driven wines, applies the same attention to this red project. Under winemaker Eric Rémy, fruit from the Les Jarrons Premier Cru is tended for low yields and harvested selectively. Gentle handling in cellar — careful destemming, moderate extraction and extended élevage in French oak — aims to marry freshness with elegant structure and to showcase the limestone-clay soils of Savigny-les-Beaune.
