Tasting note: Deep ruby in the glass with a bright rim. The nose opens to sour cherry, wild plum and red berry compote, edged by dried herbs, black pepper and subtle leather. On the palate it shows lively acidity, firm rustic tannins and an energetic mid-palate of red fruit and earthy spice, finishing savory and persistent. Producer notes: From a small family-run estate in Veneto that focuses on traditional, low-intervention winemaking and old-vine fruit. Hand-harvested fruit and careful selection keep volumes modest and quality high. Winemaking notes: Fermented with predominantly indigenous yeasts and given an extended maceration to extract colour and structure. Matured in large neutral oak casks and concrete/stainless vessels to preserve freshness while softening tannins; minimal filtration and restrained sulfur use. Vineyard notes: Vineyards sit on gently sloping sites with clay-limestone soils and good day–night temperature swings. Bush-trained, sustainably managed vines, many of which are older plantings that lend depth and rustic character. Serving: best decanted for 45–60 minutes and served at cellar-adjacent temperature. Pair with hearty, tomato-rich dishes, grilled meats and aged cheeses.
