Tasting note: Deep ruby with garnet edges, this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru opens with ripe black cherry, plum and dark berry aromas layered with baking spice, cedar and a hint of leather. The palate is medium–full, showing concentrated fruit framed by firm, refined tannins and a savory, mineral undercurrent. Elegant oak integration supports a long, layered finish.
Producer notes: Produced by Château Laroze under the Gurchy-Meslin family and guided by winemakers Jean-Philippe Fort and Hubert de Bouard, this bottling balances classic regional structure with approachable richness. The 2014 vintage delivers plush fruit while retaining the estate’s signature savory drive.
Winemaking notes: Hand-harvested fruit undergoes careful sorting followed by controlled fermentations in small vats. Gentle extraction preserves freshness; malolactic fermentation is completed and the wine is matured in French oak barrels to build texture and complexity without overpowering the fruit.
Vineyard notes: Vines are planted on the clay–limestone slopes of Saint-Émilion, where moderate yields and attentive canopy management encourage concentration and phenolic ripeness. The site’s mineral soils contribute to the wine’s savory frame and fine-grained tannic structure.
Serve after 45 minutes of decanting (or open an hour before serving). Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, braised beef, venison and mature cheeses.
