Tasting Note: Aromas of black cherry, ripe blackberry and plum are threaded with dried rose and violet florals, cedar smoke, tobacco and a mineral, wet-earth note. The palate is rounded and silky with creamy mid-palate fruit, polished yet present tannins and a fresh acidity that carries through to a long, savory finish. Producer & Style: Les Hauts de Smith is the approachable second wine from a Cru Classé estate owned by the Cathiard family. It offers much of the estate’s signature texture and terroir expression in a more accessible style, drinking well earlier while retaining cellar potential. Winemaking: Fermented with careful extraction and matured in oak (a portion in new French oak) to add structure and spice; winemaking aims for balance between ripe fruit and subtle oak influence. Vineyard Notes: Sourced from Pessac‑Léognan parcels on well‑drained gravelly soils with clay pockets and a cool maritime influence that preserves freshness.
