Colour: deep golden syrup. Nose: sticky treacle, candied ginger, orchard toffee apples and a ribbon of vanilla; tropical fruit notes and subtle green wood appear with air. Palate: warm and rich — cracked black pepper and cloves weave with milk and dark chocolate, brown sugar, toasted oak and roasted nuts; hints of liquorice and brandy-snap biscuits linger. Finish: full, slow, viscous and persistent. Producer notes: Edition No.2 is the result of The Macallan's obsessive mastery of oak and spirit. Hand-picked casks — seven distinct oak types from four Spanish bodegas — were sourced, toasted and seasoned to the distillery’s demanding specification under the guidance of the Master of Wood and Whisky Mastery team. Winemaking & maturation: This limited-edition expression combines American and European oak casks in various sizes and toast levels, marrying bright citrus and tropical fruit lift with warm sherry, spice and chocolate tones. Regional notes: Born of Speyside tradition, the spirit reflects pure local water, quality malted barley and decades of cask experience. Serve neat or with a few drops of spring water; rest 10–20 minutes in the glass to open aromas. Ideal with dark chocolate, aged cheeses or rich, nutty desserts.
