This Grand Cru monopole from Clos de Tart opens with cool, airy aromas of dark berries, violets, forest floor and a faint menthol note. On the palate it is taut and muscular yet finely balanced, showing concentrated fruit framed by silky, well-integrated tannins and subtle oak spice from 17 months of ageing. Harvested in early October and brought through malolactic fermentation the following year, the wine combines an elegant structure with a long, savoury finish. Best enjoyed after an hour or two of decanting to reveal its layers — a superb partner for roast game, duck and mature cheeses.
