2014 Sena

A compelling expression from Aconcagua: deep ruby with a crimson rim, the bouquet unfolds layers of ripe red and dark fruit—raspberry, cherry and blueberry—woven with floral notes, dried herbs and subtle spice. Secondary aromas of cedar, tobacco, cocoa and clove add complexity. On the palate it is rich and concentrated, full-bodied and structured, with abundant yet polished tannins and bright tension from careful ripening in a cool finish. Produced as a high-end estate wine under biodynamic principles, the 2014 vintage reflects a vintage marked by spring frost that reduced yields, followed by warm, dry ripening and cooler late-season temperatures that lent excellent balance and aromatic intensity. Winemaking included rigorous selection, fermentation in small lots and 22 months of maturation (67% new French oak, 5% in foudres), resulting in a layered wine with impressive depth and a refined, lingering finish. Winemaker: Francisco Baettig.
