2019 Valli Bendigo Vineyard Pinot Noir

Soul Hook: A single-vineyard red that balances perfume and power from Bendigo's terraces.

Why choose it?
1) Single-vineyard focus -> concentrated, site-driven fruit and consistent quality. 2) Skilled winemaking -> 58% whole-bunch fermentation and 12 months in French oak (30% new) give spice and texture without heaviness. 3) Ageworthy structure -> fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity promise both early enjoyment and cellaring potential.

Sommelier's note: Dark cherry and plum centre-stage, edged by violet, liquorice and thyme. Medium‑full weight with silk-coated, chewy tannins and a savoury finish that keeps evolving. Decant 30–60 minutes to reveal subtle floral and spice layers.

Producer & winemaking: Crafted by Valli Wines from Chinaman's Terrace in Bendigo. Fruit was handled gently, fermented with a high proportion of whole bunches to lift perfume and spice, then matured 12 months in French oak (30% new) to add depth and fine tannin grip.

Vineyard notes: Steep terraces in Bendigo supply concentrated fruit with a savoury, mineral edge — cool nights preserve acidity while warm days build ripeness.

Occasions: Upgrade a roast-duck dinner, impress at an intimate lamb-and-truffle evening, or pair with a robust steak for a celebratory weekend.

Competitive edge: Think single-vineyard detail and careful whole-bunch handling at a price that undercuts many top-shelf labels — expressive and finely textured without the trophy-label markup.
