Tasting note

A benchmark Pomerol from a top estate, the 2018 Chateau L'Eglise-Clinet opens with a layered perfume of black cherry and plum underscored by truffle, dark chocolate, graphite and a thread of liquorice and tobacco. On the palate it is dense and plush yet tightly structured — velvety texture coats the mouth with ripe fruit and savory spice, framed by polished, integrated tannins and a cool mineral undertow. Oaked maturation of 18 months gives subtle cedar and nougat nuances without overwhelming the fruit, while careful sorting, gentle extraction and attentive élevage preserve the wine's finesse and ageing potential. Ready to enjoy with a good decant now, this vintage will also reward patient cellaring over decades. Serve with roasted lamb, rich beef dishes or aged cheeses to match its depth and lingering finish.
