Tasting note: This 2012 from Latour à Pomerol opens with a layered aromatic profile of ripe black cherry and plum, edged with truffle, dark chocolate and cocoa, and a hint of shelled walnuts. On the palate it is dense and textured — plush fruit balanced by a firm, chewy tannic frame and an underlying mineral streak that keeps the finish fresh and lingering. Producer notes: Latour à Pomerol, named for the small tower by the château, has a long association with the Moueix family: farmed by Établissements Jean‑Pierre Moueix since 1962 and formally acquired in 2024. The estate blends tradition with careful modern winemaking. Winemaking notes: Fermented in thermo‑regulated concrete and stainless steel vats with gentle, controlled maceration and extraction. Aged 12–14 months in French oak (approximately 50% new), the oak supports but does not dominate, preserving primary fruit and terroir expression. Vineyard notes: The site is notable for diverse soils — gravel and clay parcels near the village church and loam around the château — contributing complexity and harmony to the wine. Drinking window runs broadly from 2015 to 2035; with cellaring it gains tertiary notes, while decanting 60–90 minutes will help open its aromatics.
