Tasting note: Bright crimson in the glass, this Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru opens with lifted aromas of red cherry, raspberry and a thread of wild herbs, followed by earthy notes, dried tea leaf and a hint of leather. On the palate it is focused and savory: silky but firm tannins frame concentrated fruit, while clean acidity and mineral undertow drive a long, spicy finish. Producer notes: Domaine Follin-Arbelet is a small family domaine managed by Franck Follin-Arbelet. The team works parcel-by-parcel in Aloxe-Corton, respecting traditional Burgundian practices while pursuing precision in the cellar. Winemaking notes: Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in a classic Burgundian style with gentle extraction to preserve finesse. Fermentation in stainless vats is followed by élevage in French oak barrels (a portion renewed regularly) to add structure and subtle spice without overwhelming the fruit. Vineyard notes: Clos du Chapitre is a well-exposed Premier Cru parcel on the Corton slopes, rooted in limestone-rich soils that lend freshness and minerality. Low yields and attentive canopy work give concentrated berries and firm tannic backbone.
