2023 Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot Chassagne Montrachet Vielles Vignes

Tasting note: Bright ruby red with an inviting perfume of wild red cherry, raspberry and a lift of dried herbs. The mid-palate shows fine, silky tannins, a touch of forest-floor earthiness and gentle spice — medium-bodied and poised with fresh acidity and a savory finish.
Producer notes: From the family domaine of Fernand & Laurent Pillot in Chassagne-Montrachet, this Vieilles Vignes bottling draws on older vines for concentrated, balanced fruit and an expressive sense of place.
Winemaking notes: Gentle extraction and careful élevage in seasoned oak preserve primary fruit while adding subtle structure and spice. Minimal intervention in cellar emphasizes clarity and finesse.
Vineyard notes: Sourced from older plots around Chassagne-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune, soils here deliver a mineral, forested character and steady ripening. The result is an elegant red with depth and an approachable youthful charm.
Serving suggestion: Decant for about an hour to open aromatics and soften edges. Pairs beautifully with roast duck, mushroom dishes or classic French preparations such as tournedos Rossini.
