This 2019 from a Saint-Julien grand cru is deep and concentrated: an inky core of black and blue fruits with layered perfumes of violets and crushed blackcurrant. Secondary notes of graphite, tobacco, espresso and a touch of licorice mingle with cedary, finely integrated oak. On the palate it is medium‑to‑full, seamless and mouth-filling: saline minerality and stony notes lift the rich fruit while polished, refined tannins provide structure and drive. A long, lingering finish makes this wine both immediately seductive and built for medium- to long-term aging. Producer and winemaking notes: the estate—classified 2ème Grand Cru Classé and under the stewardship of Bruno Borie—employs meticulous vineyard work (some 50 manual interventions) and ages the grand vin for about 18 months in French oak. Vineyard notes: the proximity to the vast Gironde estuary and its daily tides moderates extremes of temperature, reduces frost and hail risk, and brings a distinctive mineral lift. Best enjoyed after a good decant or further cellaring if desired.
