Tasting note
Tasting note: Burnished gold in the glass, this 30‑year Bowmore opens with heather honey, ripe bananas and peaches, layered with pineapple, vanilla and a creamy butterscotch. The palate is rich and rounded — tropical fruit and honeyed sweetness framed by subtle, coastal peat smoke and a cooling hint of eucalyptus. Finish is mouth‑warming and long, ripe fruits lingering on the tongue.
Producer notes: Inspired by the terrain around the Bowmore Distillery, this expression reflects the island’s maritime character — driftwood markings, sea glass polish and the persistent whisper of peat smoke.
Winemaking/maturation: Distilled in 1989 and matured for three decades in a careful marriage of Sherry hogsheads and Bourbon barrels. Bottled at a measured cask strength of 45.3% ABV, the whisky balances oak influence with the distillery’s signature fruity-smoky profile.
Vineyard/terroir notes (distillery context): Born of Islay’s windswept coastline, peat bogs and barley grown for malting, Bowmore’s spirit carries salt-laced maritime notes and nervous peat that underpin the sweeter oak-driven characters. Best enjoyed in a tulip glass, allow ~20 minutes to open up before sipping.
