A 21‑year single malt from Benriach, bottled by Signatory at a robust 59.2% ABV and presented as a cask‑strength expression. The nose opens with rich orchard and dried fruits — baked apple, apricot and marmalade — layered with vanilla, toffee and warm oak spice. Citrus peel and a subtle malt sweetness give lift while tobacco and leather edges add complexity. On the palate it’s full and oily, delivering concentrated honeyed malt, dark chocolate and fig, then a crescendo of toasted oak, nutmeg and lingering baking spice. High ABV provides warmth and structure without masking nuance; long, drying finish with persistent spice and fruit‑cake echoes. Producer notes: independently bottled by Signatory Vintage after 21 years’ maturation, this release highlights Benriach’s Speyside character matured in carefully selected oak casks. Winemaking/maturation: distilled in traditional copper pot stills, aged long-term in oak casks (a mix of seasoned casks typical for long-aged Speyside), bottled at natural strength and generally presented without chill filtration. Vineyard/terroir notes: born of Speyside’s barley fields, local spring water and a cool, maritime‑tempered climate — the environment that gives Benriach its delicate fruit profile balanced by oak and spice. Best experienced after a short rest in the glass to open up the aromatics.
