Tasting Note: A polished Saint-Julien second wine showing ripe black fruits—blackberry, black cherry and cassis—lifted by cedar, toasted oak and a hint of forest floor. The palate is medium–full, with juicy freshness, well-integrated oak and silky yet structured tannins that carry to a long, mineral-tinged finish. Producer Notes: Produced by Château Léoville-Las Cases as the estate's second cuvée, this bottling benefits from careful selection in the younger parcels and attentive vineyard work. The 2017 release is notable for its balance of power and elegance—approachable in youth yet offering cellar potential. Winemaking Notes: Hand-harvested between 15 September and 4 October, grapes are sorted and fermented with gentle extraction to preserve aromatic clarity. Matured in oak (oaked maturation) to refine tannins and add spice and toast complexity; finished with a natural cork closure. Vineyard Notes: From Saint-Julien in the Médoc, the vineyards enjoy classic left-bank influence—gravelly, well-draining soils and a temperate maritime climate. Yields are controlled and vineyard management focuses on sanitary fruit and optimal ripeness to produce concentrated, structured second wines.
