A cool-climate expression from Waitaki Valley, this 2018 bottling offers focused, taut energy and bright red-fruit aromas. On the nose: fresh red cherries and sappy, energetic notes. The palate is compact and detailed, with almost chalky yet finely grained tannins, lively acidity and a succulent, lingering finish. Produced by Valli from a single-site vineyard in Waitaki, fruit is handled in small lots to preserve clarity and site character. Careful whole-bunch inclusion and gentle extraction retain perfume and texture; maturation in seasoned French oak adds subtle structure without overwhelming the fruit. Drink now with medium decanting or cellar through the 2020s for further integration.
