Tasting note
This Goldene Kapsel Auslese from the Treppchen site opens with a bright bouquet of ripe orchard fruits and honeyed notes, threaded with floral lift and a distinctive anise/fennel character from the slate terroir. On the palate it shows concentrated stone-fruit and citrus-zest flavors balanced by racy acidity, delivering medium body, a lush yet finely structured sweetness and a very long, focused finish. Producer notes: From Weingut Markus Molitor, this selection represents late-harvest fruit from steep, slate-rich parcels in Erden. Grapes are carefully hand-selected to achieve ripe, botrytised or late-harvest concentration when appropriate, then gently pressed and fermented slowly to preserve aromatic precision. Winemaking & vineyard: The wine reflects meticulous vineyard work on the Treppchen terraces — cool Mosel nights and mineral slate soils give vibrancy and signature anise-fennel notes. Fermentation is controlled and slow to retain purity; residual sweetness is balanced by lively natural acidity, allowing excellent ageing potential. Serving suggestion: A brief decant (about 30 minutes) will open aeration and perfume. Serve chilled alongside fruit desserts, foie gras or nuanced spicy-Asian dishes.
